Time behind bars for man who was involved in the importation of drugs through the post

  • After intercepting a package from Thailand, detectives were able to identify Healey's involvement in flooding the streets of Salford with drugs.
  • The work, codenamed Operation Concept, is a joint operation between Greater Manchester Police and the Border Force.

On Wednesday 26 March 2025 at Manchester Crown Court, Cavan Healey (08/01/1999) of Langholme Place, Eccles was sentenced to three-and-a-half years for the importation, supply and possession of Class B drugs and possessing criminal property.

Recent intelligence and incidents mean our detectives are experiencing higher volumes of crimes relating to the importation of drugs via the postal service in a way to try and avoid detection.

The work, codenamed Operation Concept, is a joint operation between Greater Manchester Police and the Border Force.

Our Salford Challenger Pro-active team became aware that Healey was involved in the importation of drugs into the country from abroad. An early morning warrant was executed back in August 2024 at his address on Langholme Place in Eccles, Salford where a vast sum of money, of £21,600 was recovered from a car parked outside belonging to Healey alongside a large amount of cannabis in a kitchen cupboard, with an approximate street value of £22,000. Following a thorough investigation, he was later charged and pleaded guilty to all offences.

This was after evidence uncovered by analysing his phone showed messages in chats that Healey was dealing in multi-kilograms of cannabis, importing the quantities direct from Thailand through the posts to different associate addresses.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Worthington from our Salford Challenger Unit said; “Despite his disregard and blatant operation to import drugs from abroad using the postal service, we were able to intercept and prosecute him for the offences.

“Our enquiries are ongoing around the use of this system to import drugs nationally and hopefully this sentence sends a clear message to others out there that if they are intent on committing crime and flooding the streets with drugs, we will do everything we can to bring the full force of the law to your doorstep.

Programme Challenger is Greater Manchester’s response to tackling serious and organised crime. It tackles all manner of serious crime: county lines drugs, exploitation of young children and vulnerable adults, modern slavery, immigration and economic crime and the use of firearms.
